Cross-platform publishing

Cross-platform publishing means releasing the same video on several platforms, adapted to each one's frame, interface, length and audience.

Why it matters

It multiplies the reach of one video, but a careless repost can leave text hidden under buttons or a caption that doesn't fit, which makes good work look sloppy.

Uploading an identical file everywhere is quick but often looks out of place. Each app covers different parts of the frame, allows different caption lengths and shows a different cover image in its grid.

Adapting usually means checking the frame against each app's safe zone, writing a caption for each audience, choosing a cover that reads at a small size, and keeping on-screen text out of any area one of the apps will cover.

Keeping one master version with the on-screen text still editable, rather than fixed into the picture, makes these changes quick and keeps every version consistent with the original.

Example

A short about the history of the paper clip is made once in 9:16 with its key text near the middle of the frame, then posted to TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts with a caption written for each.
